"Rising Gibbous" by Oty - Edition of 20
The detailed bright side of the Moon was captured during the waxing gibbous phase in many different panels, this allows capturing at a higher focal length to achieve greater details. These panels are then stitched together like a mosaic and then blended with a darkened full Moon to give the effect of a complete Moon
The colours in this piece represent the different metal minerals found within the Moon's surface, contrasting the idea that the Moon is a colourless grey rock
The blue shades are a result of titanium and particularly feature in the Sea of Tranquility located towards the top right. The orange colours appear more scattered and are from hydrated iron oxide metals similar to rust here on Earth
